Electronics Lab Overview
The Electronics Lab is for soldering, circuit building and repair. It has soldering equipment, a stock of components and microscopes for close-up work.
Equipment at a glance
The current list of Electronics Lab equipment is in Atlas: https://atlas.waukeshamakers.com.
No SOP pages have been written for this area yet. They will be added to the Equipment SOPs chapter of this book.
To be confirmed: whether shared components are free to use for members' projects, and how to report when stock runs low.
Before you work here
- Corded tools require training, including soldering stations. See Training and Certification: How Certification Works.
- Soldering irons are hot enough to burn and to start fires. Always return the iron to its stand, and turn it off when you leave the bench, even briefly. See Shop Safety: Fire Safety and Hot Work.
- Flux smoke irritates the eyes and lungs. Work with ventilation. See Shop Safety: Air Quality.
- Wash your hands after handling solder, especially leaded solder, and do not eat at the bench.
- Unplug before you probe. Never work inside mains-powered equipment while it is plugged in. See Shop Safety: Electrical Safety and Lockout/Tagout.
Area Champion
To be confirmed: who the Electronics Lab Area Champion is and how to reach them. See **Volunteer Runbooks: Area Champions** for what Area Champions do.
